Like the more predatory, coupé-like GLA-Class, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class offers most of the panache and features of Benz's larger SUVs in a more agile and affordable package. The GLB shares the same powertrain and chassis as the GLA, including a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and optional all-wheel drive, but offers a more upright design with additional cargo space and an accessible third row of seats. Mercedes' MBUX touchscreen infotainment system with voice assistant is standard on the, and buyers can add even more tech and driver assistance features to the GLB through various option packages, but be aware that many will add a ton of coins later.
Comfort
The GLB-Class has a very spacious interior with 20 cubic feet of luggage space behind the second row of seats and 62 cubic feet with the seats folded, which is almost the same as the BMW X3 in the next row. The entry-level GLB-Class isn't particularly well-equipped, but it does come standard with power front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a tilting and telescoping steering wheel.Heated seats will cost you more, as will ventilated seats, and a third row of seats is optional. We anticipate that the majority of buyers will spend their money outfitting their GLB250 with popular luxury features like leather upholstery and mood lighting.
Engine
Behind the large three-pointed star on the GLB's radiator grille is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 221 hp. The engine is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. On our test track, the all-wheel drive example mastered quite fast 6.0 seconds from zero to 100 km/h. We didn't find the GLB250 particularly sporty, but for an SUV its ride and handling are fun and competent.
