Additionally, Mazda's design goal was to ensure that the exterior of the Mazda CX-60 was recognizable as a premium SUV that could only be produced in Japan. The impressive strength of the Mazda CX-60's grand and dynamic style, built according to the "Noble Toughness" design concept, reflects the intelligence and elegance of Kodo's latest design development, which is influenced by the Japanese concept of Ma - the calm and dignified beauty of spaces.

The CX-60's deep sculpted grille, long front end and  sporty rear end create strong, dynamic proportions that reflect the CX-60's rear-wheel drive chassis and longitudinal engine layout.Combining that presence with the understated beauty and elegance of Kodo design has resulted in an SUV with a rugged yet dignified exterior that has the distinctive look required in this premium segment.

The Mazda CX-60 introduces the company's first plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV). The CX-60 utilizes Mazda's scalable Skyactiv Multi-Solution longitudinal powertrain architecture, allowing for further electrification and eco-compatibility with the company's new straight-six petrol and diesel engines when they join the PHEV lineup in  a second moment.

The longitudinal transmission of the Mazda CX-60 offers many advantages. This includes the ability to install different sized motors and batteries  in the same system for  the upcoming six-cylinder Mazda M Hybrid Boost  models and the PHEV model. CX-60#039; It also offers the possibility of positioning the engine on the same axis as the engine and gearbox. The Mazda CX-60 powertrain range will include three new powertrains: Mazda's first PHEV, a 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv-G four-cylinder  petrol engine with launch electrification technology and two six-cylinder engines available in a second moment. : 3.3-liter e-Skyactiv D diesel engine and 3.0-liter e-Skyactiv X petrol engine. All three powertrains are paired with Mazda's new eight-speed automatic transmission and i-4WD system. The e-Skyactiv D diesel engine and the e-Skyactiv X petrol engine can also be equipped with rear-wheel drive only.

Launched exclusively with the 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain, the Mazda CX-60 is Mazda's first PHEV powertrain to feature a modified version of the 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G -Four-cylinder petrol engine combined with direct injection and 5 liter cubic capacity. the CX-60 5 with a 129 kW electric motor and a powerful 355 V lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 17.8 kWh.The petrol engine develops a maximum power  of 191 hp at 6,000 rpm and 261 Nm of torque, while the electric motor delivers 175 hp and 270 Nm of torque at 400 rpm.

The e-Skyactiv PHEV versions of the new Mazda CX-60 feature comprehensive high-voltage protection  to protect vehicle occupants from the risk of electrocution. In addition to the resistance of the vehicle body, physical protection has been added to the battery itself, providing direct and indirect contact protection and insulation resistance. Specifically, this required using ductile aluminum - an extremely strong and unbreakable material - for the battery case and the, and adding an energy-absorbing material to the outside of the case to prevent it from breaking. In order to separate parts other than the battery from the high-voltage system in the event of a collision, a number of measures based on different electrical principles were implemented. The circuit breaker and strain relief are used to interrupt the flow of electrical energy that could cause power dissipation.

Mazda CX-60 Pedestrian injury mitigation measures include a hood that provides both  head protection and rigidity in a single structure by incorporating a transverse structure that divides the fairing into energy-absorbing upper  and  lower rigid panels. Also, the design leaves enough space between this structure and hard underhood parts like the engine.

With the robust passive safety you'd expect and an even more advanced offering of intelligent active safety technology, the Mazda CX-60 delivers the very latest safety standards and crucially delivers a host of systems to assist the driver to enjoy the drive, by reducing fatigue and supporting when required but never detracting from the love of driving.
