2027 Renault Filante

Renault Filante opens a new chapter in the brand's international expansion. A new flagship for the global range with its styling and technology, Renault Filante is a strategic part of Renault's 2027 International Game Plan, intended to consolidate brand presence on key markets in Asia and the Middle East.

Filante: more than a symbol, a manifesto

The name of Filante refers to Renault's heritage in two ways. First, the Étoile Filante, the legendary prototype that smashed several world speed records at the Bonneville Salt Lake Flats in 1956.

In 2025, Renault used the historic name of Filante for its electric concept car: Renault Filante Record 2025. With its streamlined design, largely inspired by aeronautics, it set a new efficiency record last December: 1,008 km in less than 10 hours, at an average speed of 102 km/h, and a consumption of 7,8 kWh/100 km.

Filante also refers to a lesser-known chapter in Renault's history: the star (étoile in French) was used as a distinguishing mark on the brand's top-spec models in the 1930s. It identified Renault's most prestigious vehicles, designed to showcase French expertise among the elite and on international markets. By reviving this symbol, Renault Filante is underlining its ties with a premium heritage that has contributed to shaping Renault's identity.

These two aspects of brand heritage - embracing technology, design and history - position Renault Filante as far more than just a new model. They underline the brand's determination to reassert its presence in the global premium segment, drawing on both heritage and innovation.

A cornerstone of the brand's 2027 International Game Plan

Renault Filante is a key part of the strategic 2027 International Game Plan for profitable growth on international markets. Between 2024 and 2027, Renault will have launched eight new vehicles outside Europe, including five in segments C and D, in order to position the brand in the segments generating the highest value. Renault's ambition is for one in every three sales outside Europe to be for a hybrid or electric vehicle, within the same timeframe.

As part of this plan, Renault Filante is taking center stage alongside Kardian, Duster, Boreal and Koleos. Topping the range, this distinctive and daring crossover meets the needs of markets in South Korea, the Gulf States and some Latin American countries.

The rollout of Renault Filante will begin in March 2026 in South Korea, before gradually continuing to part of Latin America (Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, etc.), and then to the Gulf States in early 2027.

Exterior design: assertive, avant-garde styling

Based on the Aurora project, Renault Filante symbolizes a new approach to Renault design: genre crossing. Sculpted and elegant with its unique body lines, this distinctive, daring crossover sets out to break the rules as a premium alternative to conventional saloons.

Reinventing the E segment: bold, exciting and high-tech

Renault Filante was designed by Renault Technocentre in France and Renault Design Center Seoul in close collaboration, before being fully developed in South Korea in synergy with the engineering team at Renault Korea.

Following the successful launch of Koleos, Renault was keen to enhance its range with a complementary model reflecting its new positioning in the D/E segment. To this end, the design teams explored a new path, borrowing features from different types of car in order to break away from conventional body styles, particularly the three-box saloon. The result is a finely muscled body with sculpted lines, extended by a sleek, three-dimensional rear, with a coupé-like look. Renault describes this new approach as a crossover.

"Filante is redefining the cues of its segment. In a category where status traditionally goes hand-in-hand with function, we've added a touch of excitement with a distinctive style that catches the eye. The elongated rear end gives it a distinctive coupé-like look. In the same way as for other recent brand designs, the body lines are both sculpted and streamlined. Every detail is precision-finished with a high-tech look, such as the light signature or diamond-pattern grille. With its spacious, light-filled cabin and panoramic sunroof, Filante delivers on both technology and comfort." Laurens van den Acker, Vice President, Corporate Design

This body style debuts a new approach for Renault's visual language in the premium segment. A crossover between a saloon and a SUV, Renault Filante balances presence with style and efficiency. Its taut lines, broad stance and elegant profile tread a finely-tuned line between performance and aerodynamics, in a nod to a name associated with speed and motion. In this way, the styling of Renault Filante captures the spirit associated with its name, while pursuing a quest for excellence and contemporary edge.

Renault Filante is a model of unique, distinctive styling, designed to inspire emotion. Its generous dimensions (4,915 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,635 mm tall) and elegant body lines express presence and performance, reflecting a strong personality and the promise of generous interior space.

"We wanted to create something completely different from anything currently existing in the automotive landscape." Marco Brunori, designer and head of exterior design for Renault Filante

A unique visual signature

Particular emphasis was placed on the design of the grille, which gives the vehicle a real visual signature. It features an illuminated three-dimensional structure on the theme of the diamond logo, with a visual gradation from the body-colored upper section to the gloss black lower sections. This textural effect underlines the depth and sophistication of the front end.

The LED headlamps were designed as objects in their own right, forming a flush fit with the bodywork. Their three-dimensional design underlines the vehicle's high-tech premium appearance. The daytime running (DRL) light signature sets an angle of 28°, a subtle but direct nod to the geometry of the Renault logo. A welcome and goodbye lighting sequence accentuates the emotional experience and establishes a symbolic connection between the car and its driver. Finally, the high, slightly domed and ribbed bonnet reinforces the perception of robust strength.

In profile, Renault Filante features a taut, flowing roofline, underlined by elegant side windows and chrome inserts. The large 19" or 20" wheels anchor the vehicle visually, while the pronounced wheel arches and contrasting lower body trim are a reminder that it belongs to the world of SUVs.

A sculpted, aerodynamic stern

The rear end received the same attention to detail as the front. With the narrower body sides and taut surfaces, the stern takes on a dynamic, athletic look, as if it were ready to leap. The strong shoulder line and pronounced roofline, extended by a suspended spoiler, reflect performance and flowing design lines. The body is completed by a raked rear window without wipers.

Designed in the same way as the headlamps, resembling objects embedded in the bodywork, the ultra-slim LED lights make the car look wider, while the design of the bumper and diffuser convey technical precision.

On the Esprit Alpine launch version, the rear end features a contrasting look, with the black of the roof and part of the rear window, and the white of the lower tailgate and bumper.

Interior design: a sophisticated high-tech cabin dedicated to comfort

The interior of Renault Filante was designed as a living space, with refined materials, intuitive ergonomics and connected technology, creating an ambience that is both warm and contemporary. Every detail contributes to perceived quality and enjoyment in use, for the comfort of all the occupants.

Stylish, high-tech interior design

The longest car in the Renault range, Renault Filante takes a distinctive approach to interior design, with the emphasis on comfort, technology and perceived quality. The interior features a wide, horizontal dashboard with three panoramic screens, each measuring 12.3 inches (instrument cluster, central screen and passenger screen) and forming a seamless whole referred to as the OpenR Panorama Screen. This layout is completed by a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display. With these features, the cockpit sets new standards in advanced technology, allowing drivers to read information with clarity and access a higher level of immersion.

This architecture emphasizes the horizontal lines of the interior and underlines the open feel. The driving position has been ergonomically optimized, featuring a new four-spoke steering wheel with a flat top and bottom, and gearshift controls positioned on the central console for intuitive use. The dashboard features horizontal air vents with clean lines, while the floating speaker in the center and the built-in tweeters accentuate the high-tech appearance of the cockpit.

Inside, Renault Filante features refined materials, carefully selected to reduce the vehicle's environmental impact. Grained coated textiles and eco-friendly materials are part of a selection that seeks to balance lightness with durability and respect for the environment. The interior finish places the emphasis on perceived quality: precise stitching, satin-finish decorative inserts, laser-engraved trim and padded materials contribute to a refined ambience while also adding a sporty touch.

On the Techno version, the Dark Blue ambience combines textiles with grained TEP, a material more pleasant to the feel than leather, complemented by brushed aluminium trim parts underlining perceived quality. The Iconic finish features two color schemes in grained perforated TEP: Brown for a darker look or Cool Grey for a brighter tone. Both ambiences are underlined by a black carbon trim for added elegance.

Finally, the Esprit Alpine finish is also available in two versions, with black or light grey upholstery. The design features a number of nods to the world of Alpine: blue-white-red stitching on the steering wheel and central armrest, with touches of blue on the upholstery and seatbelts. Grained coated textile is used not only on the seats but also on the door panels and dashboard, adding to the perception of in-car luxury. Several exclusive details provide a further reminder of Alpine's heritage, such as the small blue/with/red lines on the driver's seat and the backlit 'A' on the seats.

Customized lighting and contoured seats

The cabin features full LED mood lighting, adjustable for color and brightness. Indirect light sources running horizontally across the dashboard, door panels and front seat backs, underline the interior space and showcase the quality of the materials. The front doors feature a backlit Filante logo.

The front lounge seats with built-in headrests illustrate Renault's expertise in comfort and perceived quality. The seats are strongly contoured for even greater comfort. The perforated headrests, backlit Alpine signature on the Esprit Alpine version and contrasting stitching underline the emphasis on exclusive design, while the mix of geometric patterns and perforations optimizes both support and ventilation.

The fixed sunroof is a distinctive feature of the interior design. With a surface area of 1,1 m², it is one of the largest in its class, conveying an impression of space and light.

Lounge-level comfort with every seat

With a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, Renault Filante offers a spacious interior. Passengers in all seats enjoy the same level of first-class comfort. Space at the rear is best-in-class, with knee room of 320 mm and a generous 886 mm of headroom. The 40/60 split-fold bench offers sculpted seats and excellent support. All this contributes to a sophisticated, high-tech ambience enhanced by ingenious accessories such as the smartphone and tablet holders on the backs of the front seats.

To optimize comfort for everyone, Renault Filante adopts tri-zone air conditioning, allowing the temperature to be adjusted independently front left, front right and rear. Each zone has its own controls, providing personalized thermal comfort for each passenger. The system also includes an air purification function (PM2.5), capable of detecting ambient air quality and automatically activating ventilation.

In terms of load capacity, Renault Filante offers generous boot space of up to 2,050 liters with the seats folded (633 liters with the seats up, including the space under the false floor), ideal for both family use and longer journey. It also includes plenty of storage around the cabin.

A sound experience designed for audiophiles

Renault Filante features advanced acoustics functions, with acoustic glazing, optimized door seals and enhanced soundproofing of the floor and engine compartment. Depending on trim, two audio systems are available: an Arkamys version with eight loudspeakers, active engine noise control (ANC), and a Bose Premium version with ten loudspeakers and three microphones, featuring active cancellation of engine noise. These systems combine a high level of silence with excellent sound reproduction, contributing to a peaceful interior ambience. Renault designers paid close attention to the slightest detail, including the tweeter and speaker grilles in the center, covered in fabric for better sound reproduction.

Technologies: an intuitive, personalized and connected in-car experience

Renault Filante uses technology to meet human needs, delivering a smooth, intuitive and connected in-car experience, designed to simplify life for the driver and enhance onboard safety. Reflecting the expertise of Renault Group in digitalization and driver assistance, Renault Filante features the manufacturer's most recent systems as well as debuting a number of new developments.

The specific screen design allows passengers to use these functions by plugging in a Bluetooth headset without distracting the driver. The system can also assist the driver by adjusting certain settings such as temperature or ventilation, with clear animations for easy reading. Personal settings - such as seat position or lighting preferences - are memorized for each member of the family. Finally, a web browser lets drivers prepare each stage in their journey or quickly consult useful information. To make life easier for users, Renault Filante also ships with an integrated payment solution.

Renault Filante is premiering a world-first entertainment experience with the XR in-car video game, using the vehicle's camera. To achieve this, Renault developed dedicated algorithms and high-performance image processing technology for near-zero latency between the camera and game display.
